Pope to resign sooner than later

The Pope states that he just might be resigning when he has to. For the last 700 years when someone became the pope he occupied that role until he died. Pope Benedict is about to change all that, because he has officially stated that he will resign if he should become too ill to remain the Pope. The Pope has stated that before in a book by German Catholic journalist Peter Seewald. In that book he says the following: "One can resign at a peaceful moment or when one simply cannot go on". This is a powerful sentence knowing that when this was written the Vatican had to endure a lot of sex scandals.

The Pope would do a good thing if he were to step down if his health should fail him. The last pope remained until he died, but hardly was able to speak when he  had to. The cardinals had to carry him up to the microphones and then it is quite dreadful to see such a man speak on behalf of the Roman Catholic church. I hope that Benedict will be more lenient then the other Popes were for the last 700 years. I am looking forward to the day that Benedict will break the chaines in the regular way of doing things in church. He is supposed to be the fatherly figure of Catholics, so please let him be wise!
