Summary:
Users of the Apple iPhone and iPod have been seriously complaining about a glitch in the wake up alarm system that is installed on these devices. As from new year people have continuously been missing their trains, flights and other important things due to a lack of a wake up alarm. Holly Wheeler says to Guardian that they had six alarm clocks set (all iPhone alarms) and none went off. They all overslept for an hour and a half, but managed to get to their destination on time. It could have cost them a lot of money.
Reaction:
People are far too inflexible with these kinds of things. Of course you may expect your technology to function normally, but I feel that you should always make sure that you have a back-up system that will not fail so easily.
People could just as easily buy a decent alarm clock, because these "old-fashioned pieces of technology" are very cheap, but priceless indeed. Never put all your trust in one shiny iPhone or iPod, because it will cost you lots more than when you buy a simple clock.
Hmm, it’s a difficult subject. I always set my alarm on my Blackberry, but if I want to be sure I wake up on time, I set my normal alarm clock as well. But this is because I am just able to set the maximum of one alarm on my Blackberry instead of 6 alarms. If the iPhone always worked correctly, you didn’t expect the glitch. I think you have to be able to count on technologies. It’s a fault of Apple, not a fault of those upset people. Apple has enough money to pay compensations to the victims, so in my opinion they ought to do that.
